First Psychology Assistance

Our history

First Psychology Assistance was established in 2009 as part of First Psychology Scotland, one of the largest independent providers of mental health and wellbeing support in Scotland. Initially located in Edinburgh, we have grown to become a nationwide provider with hubs in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and the Scottish Borders (Peebles). We also have an online portal, launched in 2020.

Originally a team of six, we now have around 120 counsellors, CBT therapists and applied psychologists working with us across our locations and offering a range of services to our business and organisational clients.

Our mission

Our mission is to inspire wellbeing in all that we do, putting people at the heart of our service and ensuring that we offer the highest quality at all times.

Our values

  • We think positively about people and regard every individual, team and business as unique in their needs and aspirations.

  • We strongly support a 'growth mindset' that regards every person as having the inherent capability to fulfil their considerable potential.

  • We are committed to the highest professional standards in mental health and wellbeing and strive to work with businesses that seek to offer the best possible care to their people.

  • Our approach is always informed by contemporary theory and research in the fields of mental health and wellbeing, enabling the delivery of the most up-to-date and evidence-based interventions.

  • We are modern in our thinking, constantly striving to find new opportunities and innovations to improve what we do. We value our environment, both locally and globally, and ensure our practices contribute positively to both.

  • We are open and aware of our own needs as an organisation and strive to support business environments that are free from discrimination and harassment and where everyone is treated with dignity, courtesy and respect.
